TSC SB RAS at a glance

Tomsk Scientific Center SB RAS (TSC), Siberian Branch of Academy of Sciences (Acronym TSC SB RAS) was established in December 1978 as Tomsk Division of Siberian Branch of Academy of Sciences USSR coordinating work of research institutes in Tomsk. In1988 it was assigned the status of Regional Scientific Center of Siberian Branch of Academy of Sciences USSR. TSC SB RAS was headed by V.E. Zuev, Hero of Socialist Labor, (1978–1992), V.A. Krutikov, Dr. Sc. (Phys.-Math.) (1992–2000), S.P. Bugaev, member of the Academy of Sciences (2000-2002), S.D. Korovin , member of the Academy of Sciences (2002-2006), S. G. Psakhie, corresponding member of Russian Academy of Sciences (2006- 2012), N. A. Ratakhin, member of the Academy of Sciences (2012-2015).

Being a part of Siberian Branch of Academy of Sciences for years Tomsk Scientific Center united research institutes located in Tomsk: V.E. Zuev Institute of Atmospheric Optics, Siberian Branch of Russian Academy of Sciences (IAO SB RAS), The Institute of Petroleum Chemistry (IPC SB RAS), Siberian Branch of Russian Academy of Sciences, Institute of High Current Electronics (IHCE), Siberian Branch of Russian Academy of Sciences, Institute of Strength Physics and Materials Science, Siberian Branch of Russian Academy of Sciences (ISPMS SB RAS) , Institute of Monitoring of Climatic and Ecological Systems, Siberian Branch of Russian Academy of Sciences (IMCES SB RAS).

So far, acting on the authority of Federal Agency for Scientific Organizations , Tomsk Scientific Center coordinates activity of institutes affiliated to Federal Agency for Scientific Organizations and located in Tomsk region.

Nowadays, TSC SB RAS is going on along the following lines:

  • development of fundamental and applied researches on high-temperature and high-speed processes in chemistry and materials science; self-propagating high-temperature synthesis and structural macrokinetics; structural ceramics based on oxides, nitrides, carbides; simulation analysis of high-speed processes;
  • administrative, methodological and information support of the activity of research institutes and other facilities affiliated to Federal Agency for Scientific Organizations;
  • development of high technology products and manufacturing application of scientific research results;
  • postgraduate education.
