Director of Tomsk Scientific Center joins international committee for prestigious forum on Discharges and Electrical Insulation in Vacuum
Alexey Markov, the Director of Tomsk Scientific Center SB RAS and a prominent expert in beam surface modification techniques, received the honorable invitation to become a member of the Permanent International Scientific Committee (PISC) of the International Symposium on Discharges and Electrical Insulation in Vacuum (ISDEIV).
– This appointment reflects a high level of recognition within the international scientific community. It’s encouraging to see Russian scientists securing their positions with full membership in this community. The symposium, with over five decades of history, remains one of the most prominent global platforms for scientists and manufacturers to work and innovate together. Maintaining our presence in PISC will enable Russian researchers to contribute actively to scientific discourse, share the latest developments, and advance our research efforts, – commented Alexey Markov.
ISDEIV is a non-profit, international organization dedicated to encouraging the advancement of the science and application of electrical insulation and discharges in vacuum. The Symposia are held in various countries worldwide. In 2012, Tomsk had the honor of hosting it (with Alexey Markov in charge of secretary duties). This year, the International Symposium on Discharges and Electrical Insulation in Vacuum was held in China, and its 2027 edition is scheduled to take place in Germany. The event gathers researchers and specialists for the exchange of research results, covering both fundamental and applied aspects, and to discuss the latest in vacuum breakdowns, surface discharges, vacuum arcs, and their applications in surface modification and manufacturing of specialized equipment.
Currently, the PISC includes twenty leading scientists from eleven countries – Russia, China, United States, Germany, Israel, Finland, United Kingdom, Italy, Japan, India, and Netherlands. Among the Russian representatives are Alexander Batrakov, Deputy Director of the Institute of High Current Electronics SB RAS; Irina Poluyanova, representative of the scientific and manufacturing group “Tavrida Electric”; and Alexey Markov, Director of TSC SB RAS.
